Stony Brook University - Deparment of Linguistics
Hola :)
Welcome to my website! I am Félix Fonseca Quesada, a PhD candidate in Linguistics at Stony Brook University. In this website, you'll find information about me, my research interests and academic output, my teaching experience, and more!
I work on phonetics and phonology, their interface and second language acquisition. My advisors are Dr. Lori Repetti and Dr. Marie Huffman. Before I came to Stony Brook in 2021, I completed two degrees in English as a Foreign Instruction at the University of Costa Rica - Western Campus.
I am a happy and proud Costa Rican. In Spanish, my name is pronounced as [ˈfeliks], but English pronunciation [ˈfilɪks] is also fine!
News!
I recently returned to the US after three months in Costa Rica 🇨🇷 where I carried out both perception and production experiments with L1 Spanish speakers learners of English. This is part of my dissertation and I am excited to share results soon; stay tuned!
In august, I had a conference presentation at the VII Congreso de la Asociación Centroamericana de Lingüística ACAling (Central American Linguistics Association conference), where I presented on consonant clusters and rhotic variation in two varieties of Costa Rican Spanish.
Earlier this year (in April), I had a poster presentation at The 11th International Symposium on the Acquisition of Second Language Speech - New Sounds (University of Toronto, Canada)🇨🇦
My first two academic articles were published in 2024. Please check them out under the Research tab! 😃📑
